IIT Bombay Scholarships
IIT Bombay provides a range of institutional, state, and central government scholarship schemes to assist meritorious students and support candidates from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The institute offers a large number of scholarships to students. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay scholarships are offered by the Government of India, state governments, as well as private sources. Scholarships have always been an important area of focus in IIT Bombay because the cost of tuition, as well as hostel and other amenities, must be made accessible to students from several backgrounds. People from socially and economically disadvantaged sections of society are in huge need of financial assistance, and a large number of deserving students are given IITB scholarships, keeping that in consideration. Non-governmental-based scholarship funding mainly comes from generous contributions from our alumni and research institutes.
Private Scholarships, Also known as named scholarships, these are private by nature and are managed by the Dean of Alumni and Corporate Relations. These are institute-based scholarships having two dimensions. The criteria for the IIT Bombay scholarships, i.e. Private Scholarships, are both merit-based and means-based. The merit criteria hold for students entering their bachelor's degree in engineering and design through high rank in JEE and UCEED, and senior students are considered through their ranking or academic performance. The means criterion puts parental income as the central criterion, and the maximum allowed gross income is Rs. 5 lakh. This scholarship requires the submission of an income certificate issued by a government revenue officer, such as a tehsildar. If not, the income tax return of the parents needs to be submitted for consideration. Students must perform satisfactorily to benefit from this scholarship.
